When you purchase a premium IPTV subscription, the app you use to play the content is just as important as the service itself. A great IPTV provider paired with a bad app will result in a terrible viewing experience.
Currently, two applications dominate the market: IPTV Smarters Pro and TiviMate.
In this guide, we will compare their features, user interfaces, and overall performance to help you decide which one you should install on your Firestick or Android TV.
IPTV Smarters Pro: Smarters uses a very straightforward, blocky interface. When you log in, you are greeted with four massive buttons: Live TV, Movies, Series, and Catch Up. It is incredibly user-friendly, making it the perfect choice for older users or those who are not tech-savvy. However, navigating the Live TV section feels a bit like browsing a folder directory rather than watching traditional television.
TiviMate: TiviMate is designed to mimic a traditional cable or satellite TV box. It boots directly into a beautifully designed TV Guide (EPG) overlaying the current live channel. You can see what is playing now, what is coming next, and scroll through categories seamlessly. Winner: TiviMate. It feels like premium cable TV.
IPTV Smarters Pro: Smarters supports EPG via XTREAM Codes API, meaning it loads automatically when you log in. It is functional, but it can sometimes be slow to update or fail to show descriptions for certain shows.
TiviMate: TiviMate’s handling of EPG data is unrivaled. It allows you to assign multiple EPG sources, customize the update intervals (e.g., update the guide every 2 hours in the background), and even manually assign EPG data to channels that are missing it. Winner: TiviMate.
IPTV Smarters Pro: This is where Smarters shines. Its Movies and Series sections look and feel very similar to Netflix. It automatically pulls in movie posters, IMDB ratings, cast information, and plot summaries. It also tracks your progress, allowing you to resume a movie exactly where you left off.
TiviMate: While TiviMate recently updated its VOD section to be more visual, it is still primarily built for Live TV. The VOD interface is functional but lacks the polished, cinematic feel of Smarters. Winner: IPTV Smarters Pro.
Both apps support Multi-Screen (watching up to 4 channels at once, provided your IPTV subscription allows for multiple connections).
However, TiviMate takes the lead with its recording capabilities. You can schedule recordings for live sports or shows to a USB drive attached to your Android device, and it will record in the background even if your TV is turned off. Smarters has a recording feature, but it is known to be buggy and often fails if the screen goes to sleep. Winner: TiviMate.
IPTV Smarters Pro: Smarters is completely free to use. While there is a premium version, the free version contains 95% of the features you will ever need. It is available on almost every platform: Windows, Mac, Android, Firestick, iOS, and Samsung/LG Smart TVs.
TiviMate: TiviMate is strictly an Android/Fire OS application. It is not available on Apple devices, Windows, or native Smart TVs (unless they run Android OS). Furthermore, the free version of TiviMate is highly restricted. To unlock the EPG, search functions, and favorites, you must pay for a Premium license (approx. $29.99 for a lifetime license). Winner: IPTV Smarters Pro.
